Folklore dances S9
Age group: 2, 5 – 3 years
Term: 9.00 – 9. 45, Wednesday
14 classes from 7.9. – 14.12. 2010/ 130 CZK per class, in total 1820 CZK
My aim won´t be only to teach children basic dance movements, but also to teach
them shorter integrated folk dance, choreografy which could be shown in front of
the parents. Both, children and parents will have better feelings about the whole
matter. It will be cihldren´s first public performance, they will have motivation
not to miss a single class. After each term children receive a final report which
will help them to know in which fields they could improve. They will get marks for:
posture, expression, attendance , manners (these are objective for all children).
Children cannot learn folk dances in this age. The aim is that children get the
feeling for the dance itself, they feel the music, rhythm, they have the pure joy
from dancing, they possibly learn some dancing games. It´s necessary to respect
the partner while dancing. On the stage children are not alone, they need to perceive
their “neighbours“. Folklore is amazing because it´s not only about pure dancing,
it´s also about games, versification, chanting, singing etc. Dancing is pleasure
and that is matching with my goal.

“Child is not an empty container which is filled with
our knowledge and which must be grateful for everything. No, child is a builder
of the man and there is nobody who wouldn´t be created by a child. Once we all were
children.” Child is not an empty container which is filled with our knowledge

The most important age of a child is between 0 and 3. At the age of three the child´s
elemental human character is being formed. Until that age he digest all unconsciously
and thereafter analyzes that. The fundamental sense of this course is to enable
the child to work in a set environment that reacts on his sensitive phases, in which
he possesses the inner need to learn (the period of climbing stairs, grabbing small
objects, opening and closing doors, undoing and doing shoelaces etc.). In this environment
children can naturally develop and express their hidden secrets. Children taking
part in the course We Start With Montessori will, together with their parents, work
in a set environment and with Montessori tools. In that way not only children will
be enriched but also their parents, who will be practically introduced to the Montessori
philosophy. Parents are the most important elements and the first “teachers” of
their child, that is why they should be informed and respecting educators.
In our courses We Start With Montessori parents are only helpers to their children,
not leaders. The introductory lecture, which is obligatory to the parent that would
like to enrol their children to this course, concerns such topics and much more.
The principles of Montessori Method and course rules will be explained there. The
lecture is free.

It has been more than one hundred years since Maria Montessori had opened her first
institution for children in Rome. Despite the general meaning that children are
only superficial, she found out they have a greater sense for details rather than
adults. Against the opinion about children´s disorderliness she claimed that children
love – even demand – order (this was based on repeatedly confirmed detections).
People believe that children cannot concentrate for a longer period of time , nevertheless
it was shown that being occupied with certain activities they manage to concentrate
to such an extent they don´t even perceive surroundings. Some superficial “interpreters“
sometimes claim that the basis of Montessori approach is to give children limitless
freedom. Everyone, who is experienced with this “way of education“ , comes to the
decision that limitless freedom leads towards selfishness and incapacity for adaptation.
But freedom and leeway are key issues in Montessori education. But their use must
be planned and systematic. Together with Maria Montessori we will discover spontaneous
displays of a child such as: attention, concentration, joy and we will guide him
on his way of recognizing the world around us.
